Mission Trip
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
When I was 14 I had an opportunity to go on a missions trip to Haiti and
fell in love with the work I did. I was able to go back a couple years later
and confirm that I really did want to work with children in third world
countries for the rest of my life. I later had an epiphany when a student at
the elementary school where I work needed help. She had fallen on the
playground and shredded her elbow. I helped her clean up her elbow and
bandage it and comforted her. When I was finished, the secretary told me
that it would be a disservice to mankind for me not to go into nursing. Then
and there I thought about the people I had worked with in Haiti and realized
how badly they needed medical care and how nursing is the perfect way to
follow my calling to care for children in third world countries.
