WHY I SHOULD RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
At 38 years old, I am returning to college for a degree in nursing. I have
worked for several years as a bartender at a local family restaurant that
does modest business. I do not earn very much, but I am committed to
applying every nickel to my education. In addition to that, I am seeking
assistance wherever possible.
After I achieve my Associates Degree in Science, I plan to work in the
field as a Practical Nurse, while continuing to work toward my Baccelor’s
Degree to be a Registered Nurse.
My son is 20 years old, and out of the house, and I am at a point now in my
life where I know exactly what I want to do, and I am willing and able to
put in the hard work necessary to achieve my goals. I am accustomed to hard
work and sacrifice and it is a pleasure to apply those things toward
obtaining a rewarding career in nursing.
While I am open minded to the many directions a nursing career could take
me, my areas of interest lie toward physical therapy, rehabilitation,
nutrition, fitness and “whole wellness” of the mind, body, and spirit.
I feel that my natural compassion and ability to relate to all kinds of
people, as well as my mental and physical astuteness are just a few of my
attributes that will qualify me to be an excellent addition to the nursing
field.
